THE CLASS WILL BE DIVIDE IN GROUPS

The emphasis here is on STORY.
THIS EXERCISE ALSO WILL CONCENTRATE ON THE USE OF THE CAMERA AND HOW IT CAN HELP YOU IN CONVEYING NARRATIVE.

Take any aspect of AI campus life and develop a well thought-out video piece with a clear structure:

  • Beginning
  • Middle
  • End

EACH GROUP WILL:

1.   Brainstorm to create the structure

2.   Designate Who is doing What (director, camera, talents

THIS EXERCISE WILL CONCENTRATE ON THE USE OF THE CAMERA AND HOW IT CAN HELP YOU IN CONVEYING NARRATIVE.

IN THIS EXERCISE WILL BE CREATING and SHOOTING A MOVIE USING LONG FOCAL LENGTH (TELEPHOTO)
AND RACK-FOCUSING effect

RACK-FOCUSING is the effect create by these lenses (subject in focus with background out of focus, or vice versa)


As an example:

LS - AI, early morning. Students are hurrying to classes

MS - Mary getting inside a classroom with a load of books

MS - Mary noticing she drop her homework in the hallway stops, turns

CU - Mary's face

MS - starts walking outside the classroom

And so on

Edit in the camera, learning the concept of editing in the camera is an important discipline that will save you time later.
